How much do you pay the seller and DHA?
Record the amount already paid into the property account, any agreed seller premium or adjustment, and the outstanding scheduled liability. Ask how the quoted asking amount relates to each component.
Are any instalments overdue?
Review the relevant account evidence and future payment dates. Resolve any late-payment amounts or unrecorded payments before agreeing the transfer economics. Ensure the remaining dues you accept are clearly written.
Can you afford the next payments?
A resale can require a relatively modest payment now and significant payments later. Check both. Compare the result with the relevant alternative rather than assuming a low upfront quote is the cheaper purchase.
Frequently asked questions
What is own or premium in a resale quote?
Ask the seller how they are using the term and separate it from amounts recorded in the property account and future dues.
Is the seller’s asking amount the total purchase cost?
Not necessarily. Clarify outstanding payments, charges and the other costs you will accept.
